As much as I love to travel to Unique Weddings all over the UK, Norfolk Wedding Venues are like a second home to me. More so the unique, quirky and interesting venues you will find here.
As the alternative wedding magician, I’m always talking to my couples about self-expression and finding wedding venues that truly reflect who they are. So breaking down some of Norfolks best alternative wedding venues seemed like a good idea.
So without any more back story or bashing of traditional weddings, I am the Saint in Scarlet and this is 10 unique Norfolk Wedding Venues.
The Flint Room Norwich

Unique ceremonies with soul in Norwich
Formerly St John De Sepulchre this Unique Norfolk wedding venue is is located in the quieter side of the medieval city of Norwich. The flint room is the new kid on the block, run by joint owners, Lesley and Trish. It’s an exciting evocative venue for celebrating a wide array of non-religious ceremonies.
I’d describe it as the Mad Hatters tea party of wedding venues, but that doesn’t do it justice. A blend of antique furniture and vibrant decorations sets the energy of this former church, making it the perfect jumping-off point for any mad creative, zany wedding. Check out their gallery for a bunch of interesting ideas
“”Believe us when we say it stands out like no other! Don’t be afraid of being different. Be afraid of being the same!”- The Flint Room
All of which is reflected in the joint owners of the venue, who are mad, creative and Zany. Love it.

Godwick Great Barn

A blank canvas venue at a historic rural site
Godwick Hall is a nice intimate venue for around 30 people, and I’m sure you’ve heard about it.
However Godwick Great Barn is something else, and it may have flown under your radar. If you were looking for a site for a barn wedding this should be top of your list. If a barn wedding doesn’t interest you, then don’t skip ahead because this is so much more than just a barn!
It’s got its rustic roots, being 450 years old, but it’s got modern features that bring it into the 21st century. Bespoke bar, modern Kitchen and the contemporary reception area make this a good blend of modern and rural.
Picture 120 seated guests, for your wedding ceremony inside this piece of Norfolk history, with whatever features and designs you want, because it’s a blank canvas for you to express your wedding vision.
Also, the barn is made of huge oak beams, with a pitched roof which makes your entertainment sound great.
(If you are looking for music ideas check this out)
Not to mention the outside space has some great photo opportunities as featured above, what more could you want?
“Unique barn wedding and event venue in Norfolk, combining history and magnificence within a wonderful ancient rural landscape.”- Godwick Great Barn

Bressingham Hall

Vibrant colourful, garden shots for your wedding photography
Right on the Border of Norfolk and Suffolk Bressingham hall is a wedding venue well known for its gorgeous garden.
Another, restored historic Norfolk Gem. Bressingham Hall is a listed mansion house that is a blend of contemporary and chic. Filling up to 150 seated guests for your wedding ceremony, but I know you are going to want to head straight outside to the gardens.
12 Acres of land, that has been curated and evolved by the bloom family for half a century. These gardens are iconic and well documented by wedding photographers across the UK.
Another great photographic opportunity which you can only find here is the Vintage Gallopers, from the Bressingham Steam Museum. You won’t find anything as spectacular as this vintage merry-go-round.

St. Andrew’s Hall

Central Norwich City Wedding Venue
Back in the heart of Norwich city centre is St. Andrew’s Hall, relatively new to this kind of venue hire. The halls are probably more well known for concerts and Norwich beer festival.
St. Andrew’s Hall has a bunch of different rooms for a variety of weddings. St. Andrew’s Hall, Blackfriars Hall and the crypt.
This is a great venue to have your wedding at and be within walking distance of all of Norwich’s great bars and restaurants so you can have your breakfast or reception elsewhere.
The team at St. Andrews Hall pulls off hundreds of events every year, not just weddings. So they are well suited to assist you with pulling off your Alternative wedding.

Voewood Country House

Decedant indoor and outdoor ceremonies
Voewood is an unusual venue, constructed a century ago, from the outside it seems like a simple country house, with a nice garden and a large spacious breakfast hall.
Artistically designed to be, perfect for a weekend wedding that everyone will remember. Photographically perfect with its unique rooms.
Hidden away in the cellar though is Voewoods secret psychedelic nightclub, the pink Lloyds. where you can party until the early hours of the morning.
It’s well worth checking out if this is the first you are hearing about this secret laced Norfolk wedding venue.

Cinema City

Norwich city centre theatre is a unusual wedding venue
That’s right, back into Norwich at the heart of the city directly opposite St. Andrews Hall is this gem.
If you have a burning passion to get married inside of a cinema or fancy watching your favourite film during the day this is the place to be.
All three of the cinema screens are licenced for wedding ceremonies and have the massive potential for allowing you to have a hybrid wedding allowing distant relatives or guests to jump on a zoom call on the big screen.
Finally being in the heart of the city centre, you only need to stumble out of the door to be directly next to a bunch of other venues, bars and restaurants.

Glebe Farm Barn

“A beautiful rustic barn set in the heart of Norfolk. The perfect blank canvas for you to create your own special event” – Glebe Barn Farm
Like many barns in Norfolk, this one is a blank slate designed to be filled with your decorations and designs.
It’s got lots of space for an outdoor wedding with plenty of room for games, tables and stands.
If you were looking for a more cosier indoor wedding it’s got plenty of space for dancing and drinking.
Located in Carleton Forehoe near Wymondham it’s a fair while away from the city so you’ll get plenty of clean air and be able to breath in the Norfolk wilds.
The Boathouse

Nothing is more iconic in East Anglia than the Norfolk Broads. This wedding venue will get you right alongside the quieter and less travelled Rollesby broads.
You can take in the wonderful waterside view on the terrace of the arbour. You can even arrive at your wedding in a boat if one of you fancies rowing!
This is one of the strangest wedding venues in Norfolk, however nowhere else can you have a lakeside wedding and then immediately have a fantastic dinner in the new England themed boathouse.

Happy Valley Norfolk

Woodland Wedding Venues are on the trend!
Happy Valley has recently been featured in a whole bunch of magazines and blogs, I don’t see many Norfolk wedding couples talking about this place, yet many people across the UK are mad about the place.
9 acres of woodland to set up however you like means you can be as creative as you want, and the team at Happy Camper is always up for the challenge. For the more informal wedding, this is great for setting up games, afternoon tea or outside dining.
It’s a fair way from the centre of civilization but, accommodation is included a mixture of glamping and camping tents plus a few assorted huts mean all your guests can stay on site.

Langley Abbey

As we started with a historic church it feels fitting to finish this list off with a historic abbey. Constructed in the 12th century the great hospital estate is home to 15 listed buildings including the abbey.
The draw factor for this site is its beautiful medieval cloisters and refectory paired with its wooden grand hall.
Not everything on this site is 800 years old, the team at Brasted’s have a modern multi-award-winning catering team, at your disposal for your wedding breakfast.
